On Christmas Day in 1846, the Donner Party – a group of pioneers who infamously resorted to cannibalism after becoming trapped in the Sierra Nevada – prayed to God for the end of their gnawing hunger. Join historian Maya Rook and New Yorkers for Better Libraries for an exploration of their journey westward and winter entrapment in the mountains, with a special focus on how they spent Christmas…and what they ate for dinner.
Tickets are $30 each and include 1 draft beer or cider ticket, light snacks and a donation to New Yorkers for Better Libraries. Cash bar and additional food options for purchase available throughout event. Your ticket(s) will be held at the door.
