    About New Yorkers for Better Libraries

    The New Yorkers for Better Libraries Political Action Committee was established in 2003 by library leaders who believe that there is a need to supplement the library community’s advocacy efforts with campaign contributions and other activities directed toward those in Albany who can really help libraries.

    PLDA FUNDRAISER

    A LONG BUT IMPORTANT MESSAGE! If you support libraries, READ THIS!

    In 2017 your support of NY4BL led to donations totalling $34,000 to state legislators and the campaign committees of the parties in power in the Senate and Assembly.

    2017-18 was a difficult year to lobby for funding in Albany. Your support led to the legislature reinstating and adding $1M to the cuts made by the Governor in his executive budget and a substantial capital add of $20M in public library construction aid.

    2018-19 is shaping up to be even more challenging, with the balance of power in the Senate hanging in the balance as we approach the November elections.

    While we are off to an excellent start in 2018 with $10,000 raised at a May event sponsored by Nassau County Library Directors, WE NEED TO DO MORE!
